Maui Giving

Growing Giving, LLC has been on the ground providing care, supplies, and resources to Maui Wildfire survivors and community organizers and care workers. This page shares specific Maui Giving efforts we are involved in or recommend as well as resources for giving for wildfire recovery and healing here on the Island of Maui.

Updates are also being shared on Instagram @changedoctor.

Dr. Andrea Hernandez Rodriguez and her family lived near the hospital and the War Memorial on Maui where the initial evacuation and recovery coordination efforts were centered after the August 2023 wildfires. As someone trained to support people through traumatic change, she began volunteering as a counselor early on at the War Memorial sitting talking story with survivors and witnessing firsthand the local Hawai’ians leading community organizing efforts prior to others being mobilized and continuing to do so.

After the shelters closed, Uncle Eddie Dias and Dr. Andrea traveled to the Westside to visit the community hubs and deliver donated and requested supplies and talk story with survivors and those supporting them at the hubs and hotels or places they are staying. Dr. Andrea is a volunteer with the Maui Medics Healer Hui who, in sisterhood with the Mauna Medic Healers Hui, are a Kānaka Maoli led team that provides grassroots community driven services and empowers the people through creating spaces for healing in times of struggle, disaster and trauma.

Please reach out directly to Dr. Andrea for support, to schedule a visit, or to coordinate giving. Mahalo!
